The 1958 Les Paul Standard is a Custom Shop re-creation that features a carved plain maple top, solid mahogany back and sides, and single-ply cream binding on the top. The rounded-profile neck is one-piece mahogany with the original-style truss rod. The rosewood fingerboard is finished with 22 frets, vintage trapezoid inlays, and single-ply cream binding. Seriously scorching output is delivered through dual BurstBucker pickups, tone and volume controls, and a 3-way switch. This the classic '59 Les Paul that introduced "jumbo" frets making the guitar more bendable and appealing to rock and blues guitarists. Certainly many of the greatest have chosen it as their main axe. This is a Custom Shop re-creation of the '59 and it's beautifully crafted. For a custom touch, it has been updated with a pair of cream DiMarzios, which has been one of the more common alterations made by individuals to their Les Pauls over the years. Some feel it further refines an almost perfect instrument. Apart from the DiMarzios, this is full-on Custom Shop reissue and true to the original specs and spirit of the '59.
